Project Description

The Willis Tower (formally known as Sears Tower), stands 1,450 feet and 110 stories tall.  The rooftop has state of the art antenna that has been broadcasting for nearly 40 years.  Willis Tower is one of the most dense and complex broadcast transmission facilities in the world.

This rooftop equipment accumulates ice which melts into chunks, sheets or chards and crashes into the streets, sidewalks, or other buildings potentially having deadly consequences.  AMS® was contacted by their engineers for a solution to prevent this danger from happening.   We designed and developed AMS® Arctic Wrap prototypes for which testing will begin in the fall of 2020.  This can be a game changer for all building operators in cold climates where the risk of ice falling is commonplace.
